histamatic

since lou and i both got iphones the other week we've been looking out for fun apps and we've found the most perfect one. it's called hipstamatic and makes the camera take photos like an analog camera, like a holga. most amazing feature.

see how pretty they come out.

procrastinating

Once again it's been a while since i posted anything, and once again the only time i write on this blog is when i need to think about something other than studying. we've got too much to do, it's ridiculous really, but only two more weeks to go. that's ridiculous as well - it felt like the semester just started. it's been a nice week, had lots to do as well, both of us working too. i love my job - my manager amanda is absolutely amazing, and so is everyone i work with and it's so much fun. it feels great. and i get paid really well..almost 23 dollars an hour and from 4 on saturdays and the whole sunday i get double pay - i get 45 dollar an hour! which is crazy - but crazy good!

this weekend's been lovely. I got my hair cut - finally - on friday. i chopped it all off, my hair's almost above the shoulders now which it hasn't been in ages - a decade probably. but i love it - its so convenient and it flopps prettily when i walk. and it's nice to touch too - win win. then while i was sitting in the stool at toni and guy - lou and jo went to have a look at a house - a house i do think we've got. they've accepted our deposit and applications - we're just waiting for the final call tomorrow. and if all is good - which it should - cause when we talked to the real estater he said that he just needed to check our references and that he was waiting for jo's one to return his call and then it'll be good to go. it says on their website "deposit and application taken" too (which it didn't when he first called) so I do hope and believe that it means that it's ours.

it's in darlinghurst, on 51 yurong st - absolutely perfect location. walk to town hall/train, 3 min from pocket, 5 from thomson st, 5.5 to forbes & burton, chingalings, oxford st, surry hils and everywhere we go. amazing. and just on street off of stanley st - which is darlinghursts restaurant strip. it's absolutely perfect. the four little swedes hwho are moving in will be jo, lou, marcus and myself. a big happy family. it's gonna be a big happy uncrowded house for the first month though since lou and marcus goes back to sweden :( so jo and i are gonna have a huge house to ourselves mehehe

yesterday was not one - but two - birthday parties. first and foremost - Brigitte had her party which was so much fun and absolutely amazing - we baked her cinnamon buns (which weren't absolutely amazing - until Oliver and I joined our master chef heads together once again and baked them in the oven with tim tams) and gave her a lace tote and kinder surprises. she was happy the darling girl. then it was chingalings birthday too - lots of fun. we invited cameron and chrissie to the housewarming we're having the weekend we're moving in, before lou leaves, unfortunately marcus leaves for sweden the day we can access the house :( but we'll throw him a welcome home bash soon as he gets back. i think we might invite frenchie too - mathieu i think his name is - one of the dj's - he's a lot of fun.

lou and i just got back a couple of hours ago, we spent the night at thompson st and i made them breakfast in the morning (it wasn't as appreciated from all people since i woke them up too early) but i couldn't sleep and then lou and i served them breakfast in bed instead which went down a bit better.

well, now i need to keep doing my poster pitch for my major project.

oh, happy mother's day mom's in sweden! x

yellow saturday with the kids

the kids being us, sitting in bed studying. the yellow being the sky outside. its about to start raining again. we've had quite the week, and not a very good one unfortunately, we've had hand ins every day of the week and the one on thursday didn't go to well either. we'd kind of misinterpreted what we had to do but its all good now, we've revised it and sent it off to Mark who thought the new stuff was great - so all good.

we almost got a house too, i say almost, because it was really close. it was only us and one other applicant and the real estater recommended us since Jos already is renting from them. so you'd thought we'd get it. but no, of course it so happens that the landlors is friends with the other applicants. what are the odds? well, no harm done, well find another one. in fact there's two quite promising ones coming up. both have red door. very pretty.

yesterday I worked in the afternoon and then met up with Lou, Oliver, Brigitte, Nadia and went to China Heights for an exhibition opening. We buy your kids amongst others had made screen printed posters, really nice. Toby bought 7 of them to FBA's new studio. I'm jealous, I want to have them too. but maybe we can, since we decided (well, Lou and I) that they're gonna sponsor us so we can stay here. Then we went back to Thomson St, had a ping pong competition cause the favourite siblings just got a free ping pong table - amazing! sweden won, Lou and I beat the hell out of Australia!! no one saw that one coming. First we took down Oliver and Toby, then Brigitte and Nadia, then Garth and Natasha. Then unfortunately Australia stepped up (while filling up our  wine for advantage purposes) in the means of Toby and Michael and won 3 to 2 I think. well, we rocked.

Then we went to Chingalings for a bit of fun. We got invitations to their birthday party on saturday, very exciting, its gonna be a really good night since it happens to be Brigittes birthday that day too. And she's having a party, a zoo-themed party we decided. Lou and I are going as leopards - I'm wearing the leopard jumpsuit my sister sent me and Lou's wearing my snowleopard tights and a black dress. Jos and Oliver are going as tigers with their matching 5-dollar tiger cardigans and Brigitte's gonna be a panther or a puma. I don't know about the others, I think I herad Garth was gonna be a horse. Should be interesting, especially if he does his dance.

Well, tonight Lou and I are watching movies and eating candy, we're gonna rent City of God. Haven't had myskväll since I was in Sweden. So it's time.

imagine a picture of a beach (which blogger doesn't want to upload)

some might think that that far country in the corner of the world is warm and exotic... BUt oh no - how wroong you all are.. here's the honest truth never revealed to scandinavians before, : IT IS FREEZING!

i need to buy warm clothes, heaters, warm cozy stuff you have in your bed ... maybe i should buy a winter jacket to sleep in.

ok... enough of that. I bought a Iphone yesterday :) it's very pretty and I found the free version of doddle jump (the best game ever created) - froggy jump- its hilarious, if you were here I would let you play it.. but you're not sooo..maybe another time.

we're still at home, it's 8.28 and we're waiting for some guy who's gonna take some white stuff out of our balcony.. and soo we can't leave for school and be good students just yet...

not much has happened in the palace lately, we been very busy studding and the week (from hell) has begun.. or two days ago.. but we're in the middle of it and it's not a pretty sight. yesterday we had a presentation- for our re-designing of .. our space - the little laneway arnold pl- not sure how it went.. but I do now this: 4 hours of presentations in a room without windows and 40 people and a headache ...not good news.

well, today we have another assignment due.. or at least i think so ..since they've changed the brief approximately 5 times. so we'll just have to wait and see... i'm done though.. so it doesn't really matter.

ok so this was a positive post... but sometimes - when you've had a headache since yesterday day you're allowed to be negative and boring and annoying. hihihihi nicole you're in for a treat! :P

..well not to worry all is out now soooo i'm gonna be the loveliest person on earth today.. because on tursday (at 7) everthing (for this week) is done and we can do something fun this weekend (we buy your kids exhibition thing/poster design at china height) without studying our butts off...

oh well I have no idea what i've just written since i'm a bit groggy after taking 100 vitamins and panadol.. so i'll talk to you soon my friends.

weekend

can't wait

just read through a couple of the last posts and comparing them to just a couple of weeks ago. what happened? what seemed to be days all filled with friends, partying and well, chingalings, has been replaced by billy blue and studying. it's not a welcome change, i must say i preffered april over may. But there's a little holiday waiting around the corner. A whole month of joy! The only little, well big, issue with it is that Lou is leaving me for Sweden. Thank god for Josefin, otherwise i would be all lost.

Who knows how the holidays will turn out, what will I do with all that spare time? Well, sure I will try to work quite a bit but then what? No plans, just fun and sporadic mischiefs. I love it. It's funny how you connect certain words to something, sporadic is such a word. I instantly think of the movie Clueless when Alicia Silverstone explains the meaning of sporadic to Brittany Murphy
That's another thing, Tai. We've got to work on your accent and vocabulary. See, sporadic means once in a while. Try and use it in a sentence today
Anyway, back to holidays and plans. Well, there's none. Maybe someone will come visit, you never know. I just can't wait for this week from hell to be over so I can start to relax again and do something fun!

Yesterday we looked at a house, no go though, it was tiny. So the hunt continues. Then we went to Pocket met up with Oliver, Josefin came by before work for a while too, I was only there for a second though, I'm not feeling very well, sort of feels like I have a fever and a sore throat. After I left the happy two at Pocket I went to the apple store and tried to pursuade myself to buy a cover for my phone, it didn't work, i really don't want one. I did buy a film for the screen though. That has to count for something. Then I bought a pair of ballerinas - mine broke in Melbourne so I threw them away and I need a pair to work in.

Well, that's about how exciting my weekend's been. not very I'm aware. I'm almost ashamed, but I can blame it on Billy and that I'm not feeling well.

So, holidays - please arrive soon!!

the tedious life of two princessess

the height of loserness - we, the students, are sitting in the study area all quiet, our heads facing our laptops - the lecturers however are having some kind of party get together,in their lunch room.  Feels great.

yesterday was a great day, exhausting, but really good. starting off it was my nameday, Linnéa. I got a package from mom with lots of nice things and an incredible leopard jumpsuit from my sister, I'm gonna wear it at Brigitte's birthday party later this month. Then I had my first shift (or training session maybe you'd call it) at my new job - Crabtree & Evelyn. It was so nice, I had the best time and the manager Amanda and the other staff were soo nice. She reminded me of Bridget Jones. I like her. We spent 3 hours going through most of the products, including trying them on. I've never had such soft and nice hands in my life.

Lou was working as well in the morning, then went and had a haircut, looking as beautiful as ever the sweet little thing. After we both finished work and haircuts we met up at Wynyard, went to BB for flash class and then we went to Bondi Junction and Ben who's working at the 3 mobile store there and I got an Iphone. Very exciting. it's my baby. Lou might get one too, her phone is kind of an adventure - it has its days when its actually working and then most days when it lives its own life, which might translate as not working at all  - and she's gone through my old one's that I have here but they've died on her now as well so it might be the right time and it's not that much more expensive, I pay less than 10 dollar more/month for it.

We have a hell of a week ahead with hand ins and presentations on monday, tuesday, wednesday and thursday. So this weekend won't be that much fun. But we have each other and we're pretty fun kids so we'll have a blast as always anyway!

mothers day here but not there

I totally forgot, It's mother's day here today but not in Sweden, it's not until May 30th in Sweden. But still, I feel like our mom's should have some appreciation anyway! So this one is for my mom. I miss you and it was really nice to talk to you yesterday!! (dad too, but it's not your day today, sorry, but you're in the photo :))

sunny sunday

It's getting colder here. You can feel winter coming, I love it. I love the cold. But I do complain about it a lot, but that's just because my hands and feet can't take it. They turn blue. Well blueish at least. People seem to think that's weird because I'm a swede, but what can I say, I tend to stick with cold hands warm heart which seems to be a winner.

As I said yesterday the day was spent house hunting and then studying at Pocket. So nice, I had a really nice juice and peppermint tea. Peppermint tea is my favourite tea for the moment. Interesting side note. Lou and I got a whole publication layout done so it was a good day. And I bought them a Kinder Surprise each. Then we skipped over to Thomson St, wishing we lived there, but went past nr 82 til 54 and Ollies house. Well there we made a curry out of everything and anything they had in their fridge. I'd say it was a winner.

Then I went home to be a good girl and study, however  halfway there I changed my mind. I did go home though, to skype with my parents, johanna and talk to my grandmother and then I went back to the city and made a very quick appearance at Chingalings. I was back home at about 00.30 and then my sister called, which was amazing. I haven't spoken to her in ages because she's been working, been in London and now she's in Stockholm because it's her boyfriend Niklas birthday today HAPPY BIRTHDAY I hope you'll have a fantastic day. Kim had some really good news to share, don't know if they're mine to share here so I will when I have her permission.

After we hung up I studied til 3 am. That's a new thing, but I seem to study best at night. Weird. But hey, whatever works. Then I went to bed and now Lou called and woke me up, they're heading to Pocket again for studying but I won't join my favourites I'll just study at home instead. And I have two rolls of 120 film to pick up from the developing, much intriguing. Then, if I'm doing good I'm gonna allow myself to watch Pan's Labyrinth because I haven't seen it yet!

house hunting hunting for houses

today we've looked at two houses. none of which we applied for. their too small for us three silly swedes. BUT we applied for a beautiful terrace in paddington yesterday. words cant describe it. and i'm pretty much certain we wont get it, there were "young professionals" there, even a 60 year old couple - i'd say they win over three 20 year old design students. It's like darling oliver said today "you know you wont get the house when theres young professionals and asians there - they would never throw a good party, they're to nice and neat" well he said something like that and its true. well, who knows, maybe someone (like Hugo) is smiling at us from up above.

weve been getting complaints lately from both continents about our lame blogging. well, we havent had time, weve been busy busy busy. soo much to do at uni that were spending every second awake studying. its starting to get really tiresome.

oh, lotta from berghs came to visit us on thursday! it was so nice, shes soo sweet and fun! we like her a lot. and she came to chingalings with us and loved it. i hope, who wouldnt!

well, i have to go now. skype's calling x

Dear Hugo,
We are your three favorite children, and oliver of course, but he already has a house on Thomson st. We really really really want the house on the address written above - 82 thomson st- it's such an amazing place to the perfect price and in the perfct location. We already feellike we would be truly and genuinely happy there. Not only would we be close to oliver and co but also chinalings, forbes and burton, pocket, kawa and all the other darling places where we spend most of our time. So Hugu, we put our faith in your capable hands.

With love your three silly swede children.

silly boys

today's been another full day of tedious studying. it's coming along though and i feel like i'm back on track which was my goal for this weekend. another goal was to not spend any money, and i succeedes there too, since we have kind of hit rock bottom when it comes to the poor student life. my darling parents has sent me money though, thank god for them. but rents due on friday again. well, let's just hope that crabtree & evelyn wants to give me many shifts, preferably on sundays when i would get almost 40 dollar / hour. did i tell you that i got the job at crabtree & evelyn? don't think i did. not in the qvb store though but at birkenhead point which is a bit outside of the city. suits me fine, gives me a chance to escape with my thoughts on the bus for a while.

i think a little update on the ghostpatrol email is called for. he replied this morning and then we emailed back and forth for a while. this is when i start to feel like i'm stalking him. but really, i just said that i appreciated his talk and his work and he said thank you for my kind thoughts and sorry that the talk was weird. then it so happens that he's coming to sydney, to paint some walls at the foresters in surry hills in the week of may 17th and he said i should come and say hello. so i will. maybe by then we're surry hills residents too. i really hope so. i beg to Hugo to make it happen.

well, now its back to indesign. x

the boys are back in town

after a week of insight and inspiration from some of australias, and the worlds, best hands and minds in the creative industry. Our days have been smacked full with tricks of the trade from about 40 different speakers from different parts of the industry, there's so many I can't name them all but have a look at this impressive list and you'll know what i'm talking about. My brain is a bit fried by now and I have a lot of catching up to do for uni as well as my sleep. I fell in love with Ghostpatrol. He's a Melbourne street artist who does amazing pieces. And he was adorable. I just wrote him an email saying that I really enjoyed what he had to say and that I love his work. If he replies I might suggest that we could get married. Maybe not.

Anyway we had an amazing time in the freezing town of Melbourne. Met Matt's sister Emma, I really like her, and she cooks delicious food. She had us over for dinner one night and I couldn't stop eating. She's swapping careers and is going from, advertising i think?, to be a pastry chef. How cool is that? I want to be a pastry chef too - or a florist. I would love to be a florist actually. On the side of my design career. Emma and her friends live in North Melbourne, in a block that is a converted fire station. So good. We had a look at a house today too. And not any house, THE house. 82 Thomson St. I want to live there so bad. It's ridiculous really, but its perfect and suits us so well. I won't go into detail but we're having a chat with the real estater on monday again, trying to bribe him. No, really we are.

Well, now its saturday night and where am I? I cancelled drinks with a really nice boy so I could catch up on my studies. Loser.

x

photos will be up from Melbourne as soon as we get them processed.
