nicole heart aèsop

I love Aèsop!! It's an Australian skin/hair/bodycare brand, all organic and good. So good, and the packaging is amazing, so is the interior in the stores and the staff are all so so so nice! I was in the Paddington store for, I'm sure it was an hour, just trying everything out and talking! They even wanted me to apply for a job there because we had such a good time! I got the Parsley seed toner and the Fabolous face cleanser (smooth as I am I drop the (glass)bottle on the ground and brakes the lid, well well, story of my life as established before). They gave me heaps of samples as well of their conditioner and shampoo as well as the Parsley seed anti-oxidant serum. Oh, I love them!

And tomorrow's Mardi Gras. I've never been to Mardi Gras before, not even the Pride festival in Sweden. This will be my first. And it shall be great. And I'm bringing the holga.

Yesterday was a very swedish day. I first went to Billy Blue, got my fee-statement and paid my tuition. Then I met up with the other swedes: Mia, Felix, Antonio, Marcus, Emma, Thomas and later on Louise and Josefin at Alfred's where we watched the not so fantastic ice hockey quarterfinals between Sweden and Slovakia. They won. Good for them. Antonio was devastated and drenched his sorrows in beer. Then he left. And then he came back - burger in one hand, fries and a coce in the other. Then we went to Mia and Felix's place in Neutral Bay.

Now it's friday and I don't have any plans for tonight, I guess I'll save myself til tomorrow. Oh, I bought the best sweater today too at Sportsgirl. I know, maybe I shouldn't buy a sweater right now, but BUT when winter/fall arrives it will be freezing and I wont have anything to wear. So, there you have it.

white robe sect

Yesterday was the longest day. And the hottest too. 38 degrees, and soo humid. At night it was still around 30. and in sweden its national emergency due to all the snow and cold. Anyway, we went to this martial arts class yesterday with the idea of it being normal kickboxing, but no no, this was something else - real fun though - but grown up people in the white robe thingy they wear in karate. There was a lot of air punching going on and they all said someting that sounded like "Ouz" all the time and bowing to the left and right. We were more than a little confused. but it was great fun, and such a workout. well, I don't think we're staying at that place but we're continuing our search for a proper kickboxing place.

In the evening we went to Darling Harbour and met up with Carina, Marcus's mother, who's here with work for two weeks. It was really nice to see her, its been quite a while since I saw here actually! Then on the way home I noticed that Iku Wholefood in Neutral Bay are looking for people, so I emailed them asking about what kind of position it is. Fingers crossed that it's a casual position!

Today we're going to Balmoral, then tonight we're having picknick with the syd fam + the new girl from Berghs who's gonna go to Billy Blue now, and we're gonna play football in the park or on the beach. maybe at Tamarama or in our park, st leonards oval or whatever its called!

my first day as a 23 year old

Today's been such a nice day! woke up early after last nights festivities and went into the city with lou and sarah, got sarah a dress for her cousins wedding next month, then we went to sarahs house and watched movies all day! later on we stopped by the terrace, went to the commodore for dinner with the syd fam.

yesterday was such a good night!! it was so much fun - all night through. we started out in Rushcutters Bay Park with a picnic, a dog came and stole our homemade princess cake, we blew bubbles, danced, (Nason) climbed the trees. Then we went to chingalings so nice. sat outside til they closed, met these really nice guys from melbourne one photographer, one hairstylist and the third stylist, they were all her doing some shoot for a magazine, lure, i think it was. one of them said I look like Sophie Lowe.

afterwards we went to the terrace for some afterpartying and eventually lou sarah and myself caught a cab home. such a perfect sendoff and start for my 22/23 birthday.

photos will be up as soon as i can get them processed. maybe tomorrow.

watermelon and balloons

Today I've been running the streets for balloons and watermelons. exciting. I didn't find either of it. I need a whole watermelon and all I can find are half, I'm gonna go up to wollies and ask them if I can order a whole stupid watermelon. We're making punch in a watermelon for tomorrow. Should be nice, I don't know, I've never done it before but I thought we'd give it a go. Then there's the matter of the balloons, I only want a few, like a bouquet of helium balloons. But for the helium to stay there I have to buy them tomorrow or I have to get them filled with some extra gel thing, then they're fine for four days, but I don't think that's very healthy to inhale which I'm sure someone will want to do. So, Im just gonna go back tomorrow and get some.

Anyway, i've got almost all the ingredients for my cakes - even lactose free cream, Australia, I'm impressed - you're improving on the lactose-free food stuffs! I just need to get green and pink caramell coluring and colour the marzipan. I hope it'll be easy so the cakes won't look mouldy. Anyway, both Josefin and Cranley - sweet things - promised to eat it anyway. With they're eyes closed. Fine by me.

I'm sorry for the lack of interesting things in this post. It's just been a very uneventful couple of days. But tomorrow, that's a whole other story. That's when the mischief commences and as Ben would say, that's when we go buckwild. There seems to be a few people coming to my little birthday in the park get together, 14 has clicked attending on facebook anyway, but then there's a few others coming too. so I think we're about 20 - give or take. Nice round number. Not like 23. yuk.

a wednesday

Louise is still asleep. I'm awake. It's not that strange though, she worked until 9 yesterday, then I walked and met her on her way home and then we sat up for a while. We've been trying to decide on what to wear on saturday, which is kind of a stupid mission since the weather here is kind of unpredictable, but so far it says its gonna be 28 and sunny with a few clouds. which is kind of perfect.

Today we're going to paddington, I'm gonna go see if anyone's looking for casuals. I think I saw Pink Zebra did, only my sister knows what that store is to me! Imagine me working there? then at 6.30 we're going kickboxing on Falcon St, very exciting.

So right now, while waiting for Lou to come alive, I'm planning our life tour with Paul. We're going to Coachella, then Havanna. Then we're moving back to Stockholm and the apartment on Tysta Gatan, the one on the right hand side, in the grey building with the massive balcony.

Now, Lou woke up!

how to meet and greet

If you are Louise, and meet someone you don't particularly want to meet, say ryan-shore, how to meet and greet this old lover (his side) is to turn on her heels and run.

it was a funny thing to watch.

djungelvrål

It's my birthday on saturday. 23. I feel old. A friend of mine once said "us girls, we have til we're 24, then we might as well die".

I'm not gonna be that drastic for my birthday though, I still have one more year, in my prime,to go. So I'm gonna make the most of it. Therefore I'm inviting my friends and family here in little syd to a birthday picnic in rushcutters bay, then we're moving on to Ching a Lings, that little piece of heaven where the bartenders (although already taken) look like tattoed angels and where you always find yourself smiling and milling around with the pretty boys and girls of sydney. oh, how I love that place. Thank you T.S. for introducing us.

Today I've been running around the city, I even dragged Lou to Manly and Nordic Fusion in my quest for marzipan, see I'm making Princess Cake for saturday. I can't have a birthday without Princess Cake, it wouldn't be right. At last we found it, at our own Coles up the street. Bittersweet.

We also processed some photos from good vibes. We all look kind of hideous, but that's more or less what you get if you choose to go on an outdoor festival on the rainiest day in Sydney for over a 100 years.

änglavakt & the worst luck ever

yesterday was such a nice night. Lou, Josefin and I went to Beach Rd, hung out in the garden, watched the band Cuthbert and the Nightwalkers and had such a nice time. Then we went into the city and while waiting for the lights to change at Taylor Square on our way to Ching-a-Lings we almost were hit by a car. Me in particular since I was standing next to it. It was all really weird, we were standing at the crossing waiting for the zoodrums to begin and the green man to appear and all of a sudden there's a huge bang and a car rushes past me, about 40 cm beside me, and just screeches to a stop 5 metres away. It was quite scary and this couple comes up to us saying
You girls were so lucky, you must have angels watching you. Go play the lottery!
We didn't quite realize how close it was until they came up to us. But the thing is I didn't see the car. It was on the other side of the road, and all of a sudden next to me. The girl driving must have passed out or something. I have no idea. But we're very lucky to be alive I guess.

And now for the worst luck ever: We just got an email from Good Vibes saying that neither The Killers nor Friendly Fires - these are the two bands I actually wanted to see - are playing!!!!!! WTF is that?! The day before they tell you that, it sucks. Literally sucks.

Anyhow, now I'm going to apply for that job at the little boutique on Military Rd, then a packet awaits at the post office from my fam.

hello III

it's so hot today! couldn't do anything else than the beach. I went there this morning with the boys, Cranley and TaeTae. It was fun, they made me swim out to the shark nets though, I was so scared. i survived though and now I can brag about it. I'm never doing it again though. My mom is gonna be angry with me now too for doing it. Sorry, but they made me. Sort of.

Anyway, we spent the day at Balmoral swimming, reading my book, and looking for crabs. Its fun being at the beach with only boys, they're like kids. I haven't been searching under rocks and stuff for crabs and weird looking shells in ages. I guess it's like they say "boys will be boys". Us girls, we just lay in the sun to get tanned and look good. Oh, how boring. I'm never been that much for tanning though - I like to swim. Oh, Cranley had his first bite of peach today. Funny little one, he's scared of them. Well not scared, but a bit freaked out by them since they're furry. Strawberries too.

On my way home I saw that a little boutique wants help 3 days a week so tomorrow I'm applying there. Fingers crossed. Then saturday is the bid night, well day and night, Good Vibrations, I'm so excited! I hope it's not gonna be this hot though, actually I think there's a thunderstorm coming in so hopefully we will get some rain. I hope we do, imagine how bad it would be if it was 30 degrees and sunny while your crammed in a huge crowd. Terrible. So fingers crossed that we'll get some rain. Or at least shadow.

Tonight we might go down to Bondi for fishburgers and Beach Rd Hotel. The same band as last week are playing, so it should be good. And it's free, which is always nice!

now I need to rinse the saltwater out of my hair. x x x

heal the world

I know, I'm a terrible blogger... but it's just so comfortable having nicole here writing away... you'll just have to love me anyway. so I though it was time for a update from my side of the room.

I got a job (as nic said) Drink better wine. And today i've been in a badly airconditioned room 9 - 4 taking a RSA (responsible service of alcohol) course.. it was the best 7 hours of my life. .. or not really. but it dosnt matter cause i got a job! hihihi

well.... i just found out that my dear roommate nicole liedberg is writing a post on the blog now too... all i can say is: great minds think a like.

bajs. I'm eating melon.

hello II

I think my elbow might be crushed from my fall the other day. It's a bit blue, and if you touch the bone it's, well crushed. It doesn't hurt that much though, but the relationship between pain and Nicole is not the usual one, so maybe it hurts. If I were someone else. I am not however. As you know. To get back on the subject, I can move it properly and all but today there's been this weird sensation, like the arm cramps, strange. So I promised dad I'd go to the doctor tomorrow to have a look at it. I'm sure that I'm gonna sit there for hours and hours just to have them say it's nothing, just a bruising and that the crack I'm feeling is well something else.

Today I've been in the city, went to Kinokuiya to have a coffee and read. I'm reading Perfume right now, it's good. I haven't read it before which is nice. I have this thing that I re-read all books i like instead of trying new ones. I thought well, it's a new year, let's try something else, like reading different books. Therefore i'm now reading two at the same time, Perfume as I mentioned and this hilarious book Up a tree in the park at night with a hedgehog by P Robert Smith. Read it!

Yesterday evening Lou and I made homemade granola. It's so good. And so much better than the crap they're selling in the "healthy" section at Wollies. Well, there's a fair bit of hunny in there so they stick together, but still, it's better. We have oats, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, brazil nuts, almonds, apricots, apples, coconut and cinnamon in it. It's delicious! You could order it from us if you'd like. It could be our side project. Princess granola can we call the business. Who wouldn't want princess granola for brekkie. I would.

okay, see ya

sunday morning

there! Lou and I just finished filling out our volunteer applications for Blues fest (Blues and Roots) in Byron Bay this april. Fingers crossed that we get chosen, if so we'll be able to go for all five days - for free! and we get discounted camping + a free meal per day. I think we'd like to stay at Arts Factory though. But we'll see. Anyhow, fingers crossed!

it's been raining like crazy, yesterday I thought Sydney would drown in it own rain, but no, still standing. I didn't though, I fell, of course I fell. Who else? I slipped on the wet sidewalk outside Wollies and landed on my knee and elbow. My elbow still hurts like crazy and its blue. Lou wasn't really surprised, she's kind of gotten used to me and my clumsiness by now. Lou got the job at Drink better Wine yesterday, we're very proud and she's got here first shift on wednesday.

My job search continues tomorrow. And on saturday it's time for my first festival - Good Vibes. It'll be great, The Killers are playing, so are Basement Jaxx and Friendly Fires. I mainly want to see Killers and Friendly Fires. There are heaps of others playing too, but those two are my favs out of the bunch. Lou, Sarah, Matt, Cranley and myself are going. Can't wait!

Vampire Weekend are coming to Sydney march 12, mom's bday, and I'm so going! The tickets are released feb 22nd, and I'm gonna hang by the phone/computer.

Now, brekkie's calling. x

hello

yesterday I had my trial at T&G. It went well I think. So much to do, and their system was so complicated. It's mocking rocket science. The one thing though, the thing that's gonna make me not get the job, is that they want me to work 4 days a week. Which I could defenitely do now, but during the semester it's impossible. I'm not even allowed to work that much, I can only work 20 hours/week on my visa. So, it won't be any T&G for me. If they don't decide to hire two girls instead, they did seem quite reluctant to do that though. Which I understand. Bummer. So the search continues..

Lou, the darling girl, has a trial tomorrow at Drink Better Wine, this restaurant/wine place in North Sydney. Sarita just started working there and Shell applied too and she's also having a trial soon. Maybe I should apply there too and the fab 4 would be all working together.

After my trial yesterday we went to Beach Rd, this band were playing and it was a lot of fun. Then we went back to our second home, the terrace, and stayed the night. Tonight we're watching Ben's play Coffee and time. It'll be a good night. And I can't wait to see his performance.

we've been nudied

while eating a sumosalad in hyde park we were approached by some promotors for nudie. they gave us a bottle each - so good - we both had peach/mango/orange or something. so good. i love nudie. and they took a polaroid of us. at the moment for the photo I realized I had salad stuck in my teeth hence the weird expression over my lips.

Now we're going to a picknick with the syd fam.

my first

this is how my first photos with the little holga came out. okay, I guess. No masterpieces here though.

australia

It's weird, don't you think, when you don't miss your home. Your country. I don't miss Sweden. I feel a bit bad about it. Well sure, I just got back from there and before I left I really missed it. That was for various reasons though. But right now, I just don't see any reasons for going back. Not in a while at least. I know my family's there and my friends. But my parents fell so much in love with Sydney, like me, so who knows, they might just move here too. And my friends, they will always be my friends, no matter where I live. And still, most of them lives in London anyway. Before, I've always been certain of that I will move back to Sweden, to Stockholm. But not any more. Now, I'm more or less certain that I will move to Melbourne after college. I just need to get all visa stuff sorted. (and I'm sure I'll change my mind about this hundreds of times)

Ok, enough with the sentimental blabla. Today, I'm going to pick up my first rolls of film from the Holga. Exciting. However, there's a fairly good chance that there's nothing on them. Well, we'll see how it goes. If there's any good shots I will most defenitely post them. Yesterday we went into the city, louise looked for jobs and I handed in my rolls of film on Oxford St. It's bloody expensive is what it is, its gonna cost me 86 dollars, but I want them digitally so that's probably why. But if there's nothing on them they'll only charge me 5 dollar/roll so maybe I'll leave only having to pay 15 dollars. Still that's 15 dollars worth of nothing. Buhu. Fingers crossed.

The boys, and Katie, at the Terrace bought Rock Band for Wii the other day, so the rest of the afternoon, evening and night was spent playing around with that. Matt and Cranley are soo good, they can do expert. Me lou and katie weren't that brilliant. We even failed on easy. good on us. There is a pretty funny film of the three of us wearing cowboy hats while playing. Much appreciated. And hilarious.

Oh, I almost forgot. Later on we played board games, and this one, "Scattegories" was so much fun. mom, dad, kim - its "Pojknamn på B", but a real boardgame. Guess if i were in heaven? I'm going to send it home to you.

Now, I'm gonna go to the city.

Oh, check out Matt's blog The Terrace out, I made a guest entry there yesterday.

xx
