hej då sverige. hello sydney

today's the day, at 5.50pm my plane for helsinki, finland takes off. hopefully, since its been quite a hazzle for the planes in europe lately due to the snow which apparently took everyone by surprise. in december.

then my darling darling sarah's picking me up at 6 am on friday. antonio said he'd come along, but i'd be surprised if he did - it is pretty early. especially on new years day.

everyone knows i love icehockey, and my team, Frölunda Indians (a little less now when my favourite player nr 12 Karl Fabricius no longer is part of the team, i like Luleå a little bit more no when he's playing for them though). So, last monday my dad and I went to the largest outdoor icehockey game in european history, there were 31.144 people there to watch Frölunda beat Färjestad (the worst, worst, worst team) outdoors and -3 degrees. we won 4-1 and Freddan scored a hattrick. it was amazing. i didnt bring my camera though, but i'll put some up from Frölunda Indians webpage.

just to top this week of klutziness off (ive smashed a sallad bowl, a candle, made a 10 cm scratch on the freezer, crashed 4 bottles of beer on my foot, knocked the oil/vinegar over on the new tablecloth, spilled glögg on another one..i could continue you know) i just knocked over a cup of tea over ROCKY!! (my computer, my baby)

luckily noone was here to witness it. and as you can see nothing happened since rocky is working his magic as always(i missed the keyboard and all important stuff thank god!)

now i need to get back to staying focused to avoid any other damage

I know this isnt that kind of blog. anyway, i just felt like inspiring. laura laine is one of my favourite illustrators. shes absolutely amazing, like a more fluid, vivid (the girls look like theyre caught in the wind) liselotte watkins. especially these ones for Muse magazine.









now i need to get packing..didnt do much yesterday. and tonight its hockey, outdoors, with 30000 screaming fans. yes, i know its not a concert, but still. its icehockey in gothenburg. and we do love our indians.

i just started packing. again. 20 kg is not going to happen. anyhow, after almost two months in sweden, im ready for my aussie revival. sarah, still keen on picking me up at the airport? arrival time is set to 6.05 am...i understand if youll change your mind.

"sunny" christmas

so the weather didn't turn out great on the big day, overcast ..rain and lots of it. but matt brought his orange sunglasses which make everything sunny and beautiful, so it was ok.

we started with a picnic at tamarama beach which was great, a lot of good food and a lot of wind. stayed there till it started to rain and waledk to bondi for a night at bondi beach rd hotel or at least that was the plan.. but when we got there we found out that it was closed so we had to make new plans... which was a bit of a mission since everything was closed except the cafes and restaurants so we sat down and various cafes and just when we were about to leave we somehow went into this bar thingy which had a very nice little back section. a lot of people, a dj and beer - everyone happy.


so today i've been watching desperate housewives all day along with some movies. and tomorrow i'm gonna go and buy a vacuumcleaner and clean the whole apartment and what the heck i might even go for a run.

snow

and just because i said the snow's gone. it's back again. it started snowing a while ago. and i was supposed to go out tonight, but with my usual luck i've got a fever.

it sucks.

christmas day rain

Almost all snow is gone since it started raining, but i'm already over christmas now, i want sun and summer. Very convenient that my plane for sydney and summer leaves on wednesday. As always on christmas day, we're watching films from when we were kids, right now i'm watching my skiing skills as a 3 year old. I'm not very talented. I got some great stuff yesterday, i'm very happy, a pair of Persol, a Holga and "The world through a plastic lens", special edition penguinbooks, a subscription for Russh magazine, makeup, lingerie from my sister and then some other bits and pieces. My dad acted Santa for the neighbours kids, Kim acted Santa's helper in our house, Putte loved opening presents and nanna tried on Kim's new RayBans and now wants a pair of her own. well, we'll see next year.

white christmas

but the stupid snow is already melting. well, its there at least. you cant say that can you team swaussie!? although i know lou doesnt want any snow anyway. so im happy for you dear.

my sister and i made the worlds ugliest gingerbread house, i wont even show a photo of it. its bloody embarrasing, it looks like two five year olds made it. it usually looks great though. one bad year we can survive. we also voted against 'knäck', so this is going to be the first christmas since, well ever, that we don't have knäck.

ive got one gift already, the one in the sock by the fireplace. it was a ring, a very pretty one. this christmas has started off in a good manner.

only one day left!! im so excited i looove christmas! and it seems like its gonna be a white christmas this year, finally! its been like 10 years since last time!! soo happy i went back to sweden! i would be so annoyed if i was still in sydney and it being a white christmas here!! i guess its karma.

so as im writing im wrapping presents to the fam and one for myself actually. from my dad. hes not very talented at gift wrapping, and i want them to look pretty under the christmas tree. so, im doing it myself. i already know what it is anyway.

later tonight im making 'knäck' - sooo good! and then kim and i will be garnishing our gingerbread house. or should i say palace!? actually house is probably more accurate.

there's a lot of good / great swedish things. (also some bad..like snow, cold and darkness). one of the greater things (which you Australians must have somewhere in this gigantic country) wild strawberry wine. how good would that be on new years!

so tomorrow is the big day (in sweden) and in the honor of the swedish day before christmas i have been eating 'sill' and potatoes. and the day before the day before swe christmas i ate it too and 'lussebullar' of course. sooo good! have been longing for it for ages so this was a good day.



tomorrow is work for me, not until 3 though so we're gonna have a little christmas aka 'lussebulls' lunch at the palace.

winter wonderland

woke up to this, i love winter in sweden, then my sister and i went for a walk with alfonz. good start of the day. now its snowing again. maybe it will be a white christmas this year. fingers crossed.

lussebullar made with love

tonight i've been practicing my housewife skills with quite excellent result. i've made lussebullar aka saffron buns. it was quite difficult to get the right ingridienses though since australia don't have anything sweden has.. so instead of kesella - i had to use ricotta cheese, and instead of normal yeast this dry yeast stuff.. weird australians. and our oven is crazy..but after all they turn out pretty awesome.

The Beautiful girls and Bonjah

just got back from work. such a boring day, so sloooow. we just talked and ate snacks all day (that we get for free :D) well, the reason for this post is not my boring day at work. so let's get to it:


last nigh! MY GOD! it was soo good. had the best spot at the front in the middle, since i went alone i first sat outside at the beer garden drinking beer with some old people and some very nice girls. and at the concert i was next to another very nice girl. she had a crush on the guitar guy and i have a crush on the singer so we discussed how we could win them over with our charm. anyway it was so much fun and i danced like i had never danced before.

oh and the bands that played before them was really good too. the one i liked the best was a melbourne band called Bonjah. (one of my new favorites) the other one was called Kid MAc, he was good but not really my cup of tea.

such a great night, stayed for a while but went home pretty early with a cheeseburger in one hand and a coke in the other.


oh and Bonjah is playing on Bondi beach rd the 24th of jan so nicole we def need to go there and dance the night away! :)

dogwatch

I cant get over how cold it is!! sub-zero every bloody day!! today it was sunny at least, so was yesterday, so maybe i shouldnt complain. but when talking to lou back in sydney and having her telling me about the 34 degrees yesterday it makes me weap. almost. i woke up at 11 today, so nice. my grandma woke me up when she rang to ask me about my stockholm visit. a minute before she rang i kind of woke up and thought, how nice not to be woken up by the phone today. but, as you know, my luck was shortlived and then the phone rang. as always. the rest of the day was spent with this monster, our neighbours dog Alfonz who i take for a walk almost everyday and babysits in the afternoon. hes a funny little thing this one. pretty as can be and so happy. he sings for you when you come to get him. adorable.



so when i get back to sydney in 12 days, hopefully, my posts will be more entertaining than this. well, keep you fingers crossed and hopes up for that.

(i must say that i like the new look of the blog blog)

well, so yesterday was sooo hot, so matt and i went to balmoral beach. we made a very beautiful sand flamingo. didn't stay for long though since a sand storm was breaking out. not so nice, so we had to leave... antonio, marcus and emma (antonios friend that is visiting) were going to ikea to eat some meatballs and buy som swedish food. so i decided to go with them, i wanted to get sill and kalles kaviar but it was sold out (off course!) so i had to settle for some blåbärs soppa aka blueberry soup.

left ikea full and happy (mätt och belåten) :P and went to The Terrace to party for a little while. good night.

well that was all the interesting stuff i had today.. oh no. here's another - the beautiful girls tomorrow. i'm going on my own. everyone seems to have more important thing going on. to you i say: suit yourself i'm gonna have a blast!

housewife life

its sunny today, freezing, but still, its sunny. that means a lot to us swedes who are used to live in the darkness at this time of year. today im going shopping for christmas food, next week were gonna start doing all the food and baking everything, at least the things that can be made in advance. the rest well do on the 23 or 24 even. My sisters boyfriend, Niklas, is coming over for the days up to christmas. Hes in New York right now, doing internship for some advertising agency. Im not jealous.

Anyway, he is on his way here soon and he loves baking. what a guy. my next man should also love baking. or at least love eating it, so i can bake and he can eat. great idea.

So, my plans for this christmas, in terms of housewife, is that im gonna make my own marshmallows, so we can sit in front of the fire with them, nice. then, of course, gingerbread cookies, a gingerbread house - me and my sister always make a great one! - then lussebullar and then knäck. yum! i usually lose weight during christmas, dont ask me how since im eating all this, like crazy. maybe its anticipation for the big day itself haha what a kid i am.

this is me last year while baking gingerbread cookies, haha. lovely apron, ive had it since i was about 7 or so. nice.



now, im going out in the cold!
