banana bread and movie tip of the day

its been a while since i baked anything, apart from breakfast scones - which we now only bake with wholegrain flour (don't know what that means in this country though), so i decided to bake something else. banana bread was the winner. and it's delicious. and it looks professional, just like the one's in the cafés. yay!

today i've been running around town in the search for lace doilies, and i actually found some - on sale at that! now i just have to dye them black (i did buy black dye, but apparently it was for the wrong kind of fabric since i have natural fibers) woops, i'll correct that mistake tomorrow and we'll se how it goes. then i just have to stitch an invitation on them for our city branding project.

louise got a haircut today. looking as pretty as ever! she went to the same hairdresser as me, Bec, at Butlers for hair (terrible name btw). then afterwards we both ended up at school. doing things. i cut out stencils in pvc. i did also cut straight into my finger which never stopped bleeding. and since pvc is a pretty thich material i had to press the scalpel really hard so now i have a blister on my finger. well well

tomorrow its stand-up night in Crows Nest so we're all going after school. it's apparently really good, we've never been before but the crows nesters' have. so hopefully it's good. then sarah's having friday off from work so hopefully we're going out with her and then on saturday there's Matts housewarming party!! we're getting him the perfect housewarming gift. maybe he'll get a banana bread as well!

now we just watched Nick and Norah's infinite playlist - you should watch it. i loved it. Michael Cera is soo cute and soo funny! ooh, yesterday lou, matt, antonio and I went to cheap tuesday cinema in the city, it's only 10 dollars. we watched Inglorious Basterds - soooo good!!! WATCH IT.

now i should sleep.

sunday session monday murder

today's been a tough day for the princesses of the palace! yesterday we celebrated soph's birthday. heaps of fun! we were gonna start with bbq at shelly beach, but it was so windy we decided to go to soph's house instead. so from 4 pm, we were there, then we moved on to wharf bar, where i sat next to a guy from brighton who happened to have gone to the same boarding school as my dad in england, Lancing College. small world, small world!

after wharf bar a few people dropped off, being a school night and all, the rest of us went straight to shore club and danced til they closed (not as exotic as it sounds sine they close at midnight) but anyway. on my way i home i realise i don't have my keys..lou's not with me. so i had to spend the night at petra, robin and antonio's. and this morning i walked home in the sunshine, woke lou up and baked her scones for brekkie. jeeze, im a good roomie!

then we went to school, slightly hungover. when we got to school we had our flash animation presentation. it went well. only a few small changes and we were good to go according to the pirate so we were happy! exhausted, but happy! or more relieved should i say.

today i also put money on my skype account and called my grandmas. they were both very happy to talk to me, we haven't spoken since the day i left sweden.

now another week filled with studying awaits!

flush flash

finally weekend!! okay, we've had production week, but still..we've been in school every day of it so it doesn't really feel any different! yesterday we stayed in school until they closed at nine (great way to spend a friday night) but we wanted to finish our flash animations before we went home and then we went home and fell asleep in the sofa in front of "Ratatouille". great friday night :)

anyway, we "learned" flash yesterday. if it wasn't for Antonio we wouldnt be at home, just woken up, we would still be sitting with stupid flash trying to understand it. he helped heaps. anyway, now its done. it doesn't look "ooooh, that's amazing" but we never really aimed for that. you have to know your limitations sometimes (i've never opened flash before) and understand that even though you do have the imagination but not the knowledge you are a bit limited. no matter what the pirate lecturer says. our flash lecturer is two metres tall, tattoed all over his arms and talks like a pirate, exactly like a pirate! eeerr, eeerrr all through class! first class i didn't understand anything he said, but now i've kind of got the hang of it! and he quotes Einstein and says
"Imagination is more important than knowledge"
- well, not when it comes to flash though! me and louise had grand plans for our animation but when we actually were to do it Antonio had to bring us down to the earth again and explain that it would take us forever and still not look good.

now we're gonna eat breakfast and watch oliver & company in the sofa!

bloody beetroots for dinner

we just ate a fantastic dinner. beetroots, carrots and potates cooked in the oven and to be served with salt, pepper and a dash of chili. yum! now you know what we ate, not that interesting i guess, sorry about that.

today has been a long day. we skipped to school about 8 am this morning, sat there and studied, finished our typography reflectionsbook spreads and started on our flash assessment. i hate flash by the way. Im having Antonio doing the whole thing for me. (I gave him two abstract logos yesterday. in design we trade our skills. very conventient.) then we had a feedback session with peter mcgill. i like him. he's funny and he make me think of christmas since he lookes like santa, and anyone who knows me knows how i feel about christmas (im not saying that i love peter mcgill though) just the feelings he...ehm, im just gonna stop here until it gets freaky. i love christmas, thats all!

moving on..i bought a hair treatment today. and not any treatment. my favorite. redken GOLD. its like 80 dollars at home, here it was 35 and, wait for it, it was down 40% so it was ONLY 21 dollars for heaven in a jar (and soon in my hair) im sooo happy! antonio bought wax that smelled like masculine showergel. yuck. i won't smell his hair. not that i go around smell peoples hair, but you know. some hairwax smells sooo good, dfi for example. yummy!

then me and lou went to the city, i bought a pair of shoes (i just wrote shoes without the S, thank god i saw that since i didn't buy a pair of hoes he he he) anyway, they're black ballerinas from Wittner. black leather, and the toe part is in black patent and then there's a bow with a stud in the middle. they're so pretty and comfortable i hope. Im gonna wear them tomorrow to school and we'll see how they pass that test! then we said hello to miss petra at her job, the esprit store in QVB.

now im looking forward til sunday. there's lots of exciting things happening that particular day but the main event is Sophies birthday bbq at shelly beach in manly. we're starting off at 3 with a bbq, then moving on to wharf bar around 7, then steering our steps to shore club around 11 i think, i can't wait! i love all day sunday sessions!!!! i already know what to wear as well. always a pleasure, since it can take me forever to figure out. i even have a back up. its amazing! my first choice is my dark jeans shorts with my new pair of shoes and a white top/dress thing from malene birger with lots of nice details around the neck. my backup is my flowery dress with pink braided shoulderstraps.

the second most exciting thing happening on sunday is that lou's having a work trial in manly. on Saffron Road. its straight across the converse store above the food court (thats not there anymore) on the corso. i know no one got that direction but whatever. when i lived in manly the owner had a really cute, huge, berner sennen, doggy in the store with her every day. hopefully its still there!! itll be heaven to be working with a dog in the store. i would probably forget all about the customers though.

now ive written a extremely long post, hopefully it will bring you some amusement!!

oh and btw, it's really hot today! probably 30 C. In your face sweden weather!

job hunting volume xxxx

hey blog,
it's me louise, haven't the best blogger lately but i've had my reason: school. as nicole just said it's production week and it's awesome! it's great to have the days to concentrate on all our assignments instead of going to class.. today however i've been out looking for a job. or the first thing i did today was to go in to the city and go on a group interview at general pants. i love that store, got so much nice stuff. (and there was a lot of hot guys in the head office, always a plus) but anyway, didn't get that. but i was strong and pulled myself together and went to school to print more resumes. so i did that and went to manly to see if my luck had returned.... i hope it has cause guess who's gonna have a trial thingy on sunday at 10! :D there was a store called saffron road who needed someone now and for the summer, so fingers crossed so i don't screw it up. if i do (peppar peppar ta i trä) I (hopefully) have a back up, I went to an other store and they need people too, but that was mainly part-time, but thats better than nothing!

so in conclusion, good day.

prouction week

finally it's here! production week - a week free of lectures, thank god! we do have one class, no two classes, we have to attend. city branding on friday at the fabolous time of 3.15-5.15 (best time for a friday class) and typography on thursday at 4, that's just for an hour though thank god with mr santa claus himself - peter mcgill. he does actually look like santa, with a huge grey beard and hair. only now, he's moved on into spring and wears bermudas with a matching hawaii shirt, he does actually look exactly like santa on all those "santa's ono vacation" "gone surfing" cards you see. hilarious actually.

today is also darling sarah's birthday!! now she's ticking my age box, 22 - the age to be! we're going to the ivy for sushi tonight, i have to get something for her. i have plenty of ideas, not a lot of time though, but i think i have a pretty good and funny idea of what to get her!

now we're skipping to school, just had breakfast, the sun is shining!

long time noo see (but short hair)

hello eveyone, its been a while. since we're swamped in school, blogging seems to get less and less attention from us. today however school didn't get ANY attention from me. i didn't go. i had no energy or strength to get up this morning. i guess i wont receive a gold medal this semester for class attendance (i actually did at berghs tihi)

so, instead of school, antonio and me went to the hairdresser - we now look even more beautiful than before ha ha ha antonio's not happy about his hair though, he thinks its too short. i don't and im sure no one else will and we're actually the one's who have to look at him, and we're the ones who's tired of his beanie. the hairdressr, rebecca, was a funny one. she seemes a little stupid actually stating that "you have pounds in sweden don't you?" and "copenhagen, is that in norway?" but she was fun. in the end though she started getting a bit freaky, talking about me in underwear and asking if i thought i was gonna get any play tonight (we're going out to dinner in manly, its sophie's birthday!!) and then she asked antonio if he didnt think i looked sexy...so after we were finished we rushed out and bought jelly beans. then walked home.

now im waiting for louise to come back from school so we can go to manly for sophies dinner! we're eating at some tapas restaurant that is supposed to be great. looking forward to it, and im gonna try to snap some photos.

now lou came through the door! see ya!!

söndag summarium

its sunday, again! time really does fly here! i don't know if i mentioned it before but already more than half of the semester has passed by and we're soon at our second and final production week which starts the week after this...looking forward to it! lots to do, but with no classes to attend there's a bit more time for it at least. and im going to go to the cinema, i want to see harry potter, transformers 2 and inglorious basterds. if no one wants to join me, ill go alone! im planning on watching two movies at the same day, since the last time we went to the cinema on george street we watch two for the price of one, we just walked into another salon once our movie was finished, sat down and watched another one. no one noticed - fantastic. so hopefully, that will be possible once more - im hoping i can match harry potter with inglorious basterds! fingers crossed!

anyway, this weekend, has so far, once again been a quiet one. on friday we stayed in school til late - 9pm! then we walked home, ate dinner and then lou went out clubbing with mat while antonio and me went to his place and watched a movie. then on saturday we explored crows nest's hidden gems. there where quite a few let me tell you! especially this on surry hills style book/music/film shop. lovely! i would LOVE to work there! i should drop by with a cv this week...then we spent the evening studying after skyping with my family and eating a fabolous dinner (made by me) - potato gnocchi, sundried tomatoes, artichokes and baby spinach in tomato sauce - delicious!

we also cleaned (watched him do it) antonios converse with which he stepped in dog poo over a month ago. nice. but now they're nice, white and clean, and doesn't smell. yay!

today lou went out powerwalking, i made brekkie instead :) its so hot today, 30 degrees to be exact so we threw on our bikinis and tanned a bit on the balcony, wonderful! don't you just love "spring". and tonight we're going to manly, to shore club to dance the night away. we don't have school til 1.30 so it should be fine, and only on 2 hour lesson at that.

on the 30th of october, Paolo Nutini is coming to sydney to play. the tickets are released tomorrow so we'll hang on the phone til we get them. itll be a great night, i hope, antonio did some research and apparently was Paolo Nutini crowned the worst live act in 2008. well well, it can only go up from there can't it?!

now, i have to finish my website design for tuesdays frameworks of design class. hope you're having a great weekend!!

here's some pics from when me lou, matt and antonio walked home from school, enjoy! (billy blue is in the Panasonic building btw) and if you wonder why im never in any of the photos its because im the only one who takes any. and antonio finally found himself in his natural habitat..

antonios hair has grown so long he can now have a ponytail ha ha

a day (that was supposed to be) filled with studying

today we haven't studied at all. nada. it feels good, a bit weird and kind of stupid since we do have things to do. but sometimes your mind and body simply just says no. so we skipped studying today.

instead we went to bondi, well i stayed behind at bondi junction and westfield (a huge mall where i always get lost) while lou kept going to north bondi to meet up with grandma' anne. actually, she's not louises grandma, in fact she's not a grandma at all. she's just louises real grandmas old co-workers daughter who lives in sydney. i actually thinks she's louise just a couple of years ahead. you see, after graduating high school she went backpacking for a year in australia (like lou) then she went home, came back studied graphic design (like lou) and then she met an aussie guy, got married, had children and here she is nine years later with two kids in bondi. i think that is louise destiny right in front of her. and i think she's thrilled. since we all know, lou never wants to leave australia. im sorry lena and anders but i think your darling daughter will stay here! well, its just a very good reason for you to take loong, relaxing vacations to australia and whats the harm in that!?

well, i strolled around westfield, always amazed when i walked at one direction and al of a sudden i was on the other side of the road (westfield bondi stretches over two huge buildings over two sides of the road - you following?) i got me some organic semolina flour for my brekkie porridge, some goji berries, moleskins and a pair of shoes for my sister. kim, ive already sent them to yo so you should have them by next week.

then on our way home, sarah's brother alex calls and tells us he has a sofa/bed for us which he could drop of at the palace during the afternoon, so now we have a sofa!! we just realized that in the last couple of months, we've been sitting in a sofa 3 or 4 times. so a sofa is luxury! whem we got of the bus lou ran home to meet them while i went to the post office since i had a package from mom waiting for me. so i "slog två flugor i en smäll" and sent kim her shoes at the same time. thank you mom for the package!! im so happy for the converse, i now have 5 pairs here..they make quite a lovely collection, you'll see (i took a photo) and im so happy about the shampoo - my mom has the best shampoo - Izumi.

oh, i almost forgot. today we had indian take away for dinner. its the fourth time ive eaten indian food and i, i am rather amazed, feel good. you see, the other three times ive been food poisioned. so, yay for may!!

if you're bored: yes, if you're in a hurry: no

Dear blog.

Today has been a good day. or maybe not a good studying day...but I've done my best. woke up early, as usual. Started with some pilates and finished with some running/powerwalking! Breakfast: porridge with mixed berries jam.

Did some studying. Went to woollies. Ate yoghurt, kiwi, apple and honey mixed together.

Saw the trailer for the new Harry Potter, it looks awesome! We decided that we’re gonna go see it on Tuesday, if I can find some money somewhere…maybe I should buy a lottery ticket. We need to see it. almost watched all the previous movies now. Saw 3 and 4 yesterday and are gonna watch the 5th one today. Antonio is on his way over here in this very moment.

Oh btw. I won a free boost bar, aka Gods gift to mankind, for the second time this week! boost is probably one of the best things Australia has to offer. it's simply amazing. I haven’t collected my price yet though. I’m saving it for a special moment, maybe next Friday.

have fun

louise the smiling angel.

international residents

we've labelled ourselves as international residents. we've been having some issues defining who we are in the australian society. since we're not residents, we're not tourists, we're not working holiday'ers - we are international residents! suits us perfect!

rafael, the dishwasher, is sick. he's still not working! not doing his bit in the palace household, so today the doctor came AGAIN. if he doesn't get any better he has to go the hospital and stay the night so he can be properly fixed. i would like that, i don't like doing the dishes by hand anymore. it's extremely boring. and it always look like crap in our kitchen since there's loads of dishes drying up.

today we started the day with pilates, we've had a little break for a week. don't forget that we went running on sunday though. but we're now back on track! good on us :) we've been very good girls as well, not eating any candy or unhealthy things at all for the whole week! yesterday we chose an apple over chocolate chip cookies at coles, i think we're worth chocolate just for that. but no. we won't do it!

also, we decided on becoming vegetarians. both my mom and sister are vegos and apparently it works wonders for them. i used to be a vego in junior high, only for a year though, i don't really know why i quit, i think it was around christmas and i couldn't help but eat the ham and meatballs. now i'm gonna try harder though, we just need to eat the meat (chicken, kangaroo, meatballs and veal) that resided in our fridge.
'
tonight is pubnight at billy blue, at the rag and famish. there's free food so everyone wants to go. now we have class with David Walsh, Finishing skills, its loads of fun. learning on different types of print and packaging ideas.

we have just witnessed the most disgusting thing created/exploded. it's all over facebook and it makes you wanna puke. it's seriously the worst thing i've ever seen. no words can describe it.

oh, and the worst thing is that there are hundreds of similar videos that are even worse, matt just sent us one. (the "volcano" was on the face...). well watch it before you eat.
